Why Does Girl Economics Exist?
Reduce the Gender Gap
Economists and business leaders make decisions that affect us all. If women aren’t represented amongst these decision-makers, the choices made are unlikely to benefit them.
Give Opportunities to Young Women
How many times have you been the only woman in a room? At Girl Economics we want to create inviting spaces for young women to get involved in business and economics.
Increase Awareness of Economic Affairs
The primary source of news for Gen Z is social media. Across our social platforms, we try to break down current affairs and share the stories shaping our world.

In August 2024, we’ll be launching an international campaign aimed at empowering more young women to study economics.
In the UK, boys are currently twice as likely to choose economics A Level as girls, and our polling suggests that many young women don’t study the subject due to a belief that it is ‘not for them’.
We believe this needs to change.
